Avvistamento delle balene al largo della baia di Saman\u00e1<\/strong> nell'omonima provincia nord-orientale dell'isola \u00e8 uno spettacolo molto emozionante. \u00c8 qui che, tra la met\u00e0 di gennaio e la fine di marzo, migliaia di megattere provenienti dall'Atlantico settentrionale si riuniscono per la stagione degli amori e della riproduzione nel clima mite della penisola di Saman\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n

Per contribuire alla salvaguardia di questi animali - dichiarati specie protetta dal 1966 - nel 1986 il governo della Repubblica Dominicana ha istituito ufficialmente il Santuario dei mammiferi marini nell'area che si estende a nord dalla Baia di Saman\u00e1 fino alle acque poco profonde del Banco de la Plata y de la Navidad (zona nota come Silver Bank). Si tratta di una delle pi\u00f9 grandi aree marine protette di tutti i Caraibi. In base agli studi del Centro per la Conservazione e l'Ecosviluppo della Baia di Saman\u00e1 (CEBSE), si stima che nell'area del santuario si trovi una popolazione di circa 17.000 individui, pi\u00f9 del 40% delle megattere presenti negli oceani del mondo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L'attivit\u00e0 di spotting ballenas jorobadas<\/em> \u00e8 regolamentata e protetta dal governo dominicano con norme all'insegna della sostenibilit\u00e0 e del pieno rispetto degli animali: le megattere, infatti, sono diventate da tempo un simbolo della salvaguardia della vita oceanica.<\/p>\n\n\n

Il modo migliore per godersi il pi\u00f9 grande spettacolo faunistico delle isole caraibiche e osservare da vicino questi giganti gentili che raggiungono quasi i 17 metri di lunghezza e le 40 tonnellate di peso \u00e8 partecipare a un'escursione in barca a vela. escursione in barca<\/strong> con partenza dalla baia di Saman\u00e1. \u00c8 possibile assistere alle incredibili performance dei maschi di balena che si esibiscono in una vera e propria gara di salti, acrobazie, colpi di pinna e tuffi. Questo incredibile spettacolo \u00e8 arricchito dagli sfiatatoi del dorso delle balene, che possono raggiungere quasi 3 metri di altezza, e dal suadente canto di corteggiamento che il maschio della megattera intona pi\u00f9 volte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
