Es aqu\u00ed donde, entre mediados de enero y finales de marzo, miles de ballenas jorobadas del Atl\u00e1ntico Norte se re\u00fanen para la \u00e9poca de apareamiento y cr\u00eda en el benigno clima de la pen\u00ednsula de Saman\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vivaresortsbywyndham.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/RepubblicaDominicana_Ballena_Jorobada_Samana_3-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21944\" width=\"408\" height=\"270\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Para ayudar a salvaguardar estos animales -declarados especie protegida desde 1966-, en 1986 el Gobierno de la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana estableci\u00f3 oficialmente el Santuario de Mam\u00edferos Marinos en la zona que se extiende hacia el norte desde la bah\u00eda de Saman\u00e1 hasta las aguas poco profundas del Banco de la Plata y de la Navidad (zona conocida como Banco de la Plata). Se trata de una de las mayores \u00e1reas marinas protegidas de todo el Caribe. Seg\u00fan estudios del Centro para la Conservaci\u00f3n y Ecodesarrollo de la Bah\u00eda de Saman\u00e1 (CEBSE), se estima que en la zona del santuario puede encontrarse una poblaci\u00f3n de unos 17.000 individuos, m\u00e1s del 40% de las ballenas jorobadas que hay en los oc\u00e9anos del mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La actividad de manchado <em>ballenas jorobadas<\/em> est\u00e1 regulada y protegida por el Gobierno dominicano con normativas bajo la bandera de la sostenibilidad y el pleno respeto a los animales: de hecho, las ballenas jorobadas se han convertido desde hace tiempo en un s\u00edmbolo de la preservaci\u00f3n de la vida oce\u00e1nica.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vivaresortsbywyndham.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/RepubblicaDominicana_Ballena_MG_2169-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21941\" width=\"404\" height=\"270\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>La mejor manera de disfrutar del mayor espect\u00e1culo de vida salvaje de las islas del Caribe y ver de cerca a estos gentiles gigantes que alcanzan casi los 17 metros de longitud y las 40 toneladas de peso es participando en un <strong>excursi\u00f3n en barco<\/strong> con salida desde la bah\u00eda de Saman\u00e1.
